Dr. Sastry Yagnanna Kandukuri is a globally recognized expert in materials technology and additive manufacturing (AM), with over 25 years of experience across the maritime, oil & gas, and advanced manufacturing sectors. Based at DNV’s headquarters in Oslo, he serves as the Global Practice Lead for Additive Manufacturing and Senior Principal Specialist in Materials Technology. Since joining DNV in 2007, Dr. Kandukuri has been at the forefront of qualification, certification, and standardization efforts in AM. He has led the development of key DNV standards, including the world’s first framework for certification of AM parts and digital inventories. His leadership was instrumental in establishing DNV’s Global AM Centre of Excellence in Singapore (2017-2021), significantly accelerating AM adoption in the energy sector. Dr. Kandukuri’s expertise includes materials qualification, digital supply chains, industrial certification, and the integration of AM into mission- critical applications. He has contributed to over 25 DNV standards and actively participates in international standardization with ISO, ASTM, API, and ASME. His efforts earned him the 2022 Enterprise SG-Singapore Standards Council Commendation Award for his contributions to AM standardization. Academically, Dr. Kandukuri holds a Ph.D. in Additive Manufacturing from KU Leuven (Belgium), with earlier degrees in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering and Computer Science. He has worked as a lead researcher on EU-funded nanomaterials projects and has developed novel 3D printing techniques, including cold spray technology, in collaboration with global industry leaders. An accomplished speaker and thought leader, he has delivered over 80 presentations worldwide at forums such as Formnext, ADIPEC, and ISO/ASTM workshops. He has authored 40+ scientific papers and continues to drive global collaboration through initiatives like the AM Energy Network.
